I am 100% addicted to business/entrepreneur reality shows. You name it, I've probably watched it.
Side note: my favourites are A Chef's Life, The Great British Bake Off, The Profit, Dragon's Den (I'm back watching after a few season break), and Shark's Tank.
Anyway, the reason for mentioning this is because it was in an early episode of Restaurant Startup, where Sugar Knife marshmallows from California vie for an investment, that I discovered SUGARFINA.
The episode barely mentioned Sugarfina but it was enough that I jumped online to see what they were all about. I think at this time they only had 1 location in Beverly Hills and now - they have ....well, more than I can count. Including their first Canadian location - in Vancouver's newly opened Nordstrom.
So, during our last visit to Vancouver (in November we went to Circle Craft Christmas Show and Karameller), I knew I had to check them out.
I ditched the kids, checked the limit on my Visa and ventured in.
Sugarfina is a gourmet candy boutique for grown-ups, created by two people with a passion for unique, delicious sweets. They travel to dozens of countries and taste-tested thousands of candies in a quest to find "the best of the best." Their candies are created exclusively for Sugarfina by artisan candymakers around the world, made in small batches with the finest ingredients.
Oh, and they package these sweets in Tiffany-type boxes, making them more fancy than Nancy herself could imagine. Ooo-la-la!
I bought the marzipan lemon cakes for myself, marzipan eggs for my mum, gummy ice cream cones and candy coated fruit loops for the girls, and a few other boxes for friends.
I loved the marzipan and the girls scarfed down their candies in no time (so they must have been good). But it's the display and packaging that I admire the most. It would make the most OCD person jump for joy. The clean layout. The orderliness of it all. And look at these fun boxes for 'the breakup'.
Again, like Karameller, the candy pops against the white. This is a colour combo that I also use in my own shoppe (white shelving, white counters) but Sugarfina definitely has that Beverly Hills, L.A, Tiffany-like feel.
Each box of candy is $8. It was/is a treat and as such you may want to attempt to ration your treats.....not that we could. We have one box left between four of us and well, I've hidden them from prying eyes.
