July 10, 2016
Next Saturday, July 16, is a big day here in the Fairfield neighbourhood. It's the 29th Annual Moss Street Paint-In. Well, the official name is TD Art Gallery Paint-In 2016 but those of us who lived through all its incarnations, we still call it the Moss Street Paint-In because it takes place on Moss Street.
From Fort Street to Dallas Road, over 165 artists set up, demonstrate and sell their work to more than 35,000 visitors who stroll the 10 blocks. There is food, music, hands-on art stations, and a tonne of garage sales.
It officially kicks off at 11:00am and run through to 4:00pm, but The Art Gallery hosts a Family Garden with food and entertainment until 9:00pm.
This is what the street looks like. It's a sea of people and artists.
Additionally, Moss Street Market extends their market hours from 10am to 4pm to accommodate all the surrounding activity.
This year, The Cottage Bakery and Cafe is hosting a good ole fashion BBQ at the top of our stairs (in what is supposed to be a parking pad but it is primarily used as a patio).
TOUT DE SWEET Shoppe doors will be open from 10am - 4pm on Saturday, July 16 and I will be spinning organic cotton candy and cutting/wrapping caramels. I will also have cold Dry Soda's available to quench your thirst, should it be another scorcher of a day.
I should also mention that The Shoppe won't be open the following Saturday, July 23 and then come July 31, The Shoppe will be closed for 2 weeks because we (my family) are going camping.
So come get your mallows, caramels, sweet treats for camping, wedding gifts, or whatnot soon so you won't be disappointed.
